Sheldon Mencer sang "Only God Knows" at Saturday's "Love Letters to Heaven" pro-life event in Coshocton, Ohio. Jan 22, 2011 was the 38th anniversary of Roe v. Wade. Mencer wrote the song, about lives lost to abortion, in 1987. The song was recorded that same year by Gold City, a Southern Gospel quartet. Saturday's event was sponsored by New Beginnings Ministries church from Warsaw, Ohio. In an article by Holly Richards, Coshocton Tribune Jan 20, Richards quoted the event organizer, Nancy McFarland: "We're having a balloon launch of 150 balloons to represent how many die in an hour (from abortion)," McFarland said. "On the balloons, I've attached a card, and people can write babies' names on them. I hope to see how far the balloons travel, as I've included my e-mail address on them. This year, it's a little different, but we'll still include education and educate the public about abortion and what God says about it." The song Only God Knows was used by permission of Mencer.
